.

ARGH!

stop being so fucking drama
your misunderstanding is not my fault
especially when you don't seem to hear me at my most straight up.
how much more straight up can I be when I'm spelling it out?
"No!" .... how hard is that to understand? it's not even like this is a unique situation the fact that YOUR reaction to such a common occurrence can be so....different... the equation is the same. the only difference this time is you. so gee..hmm..did u think that...maybe it's YOU? i'm sick of this

. Your subtleties .

They strangle me

. Thank You .

I realise this isn't gonna sound entirely succinct or well written but it's just something that suddenly boinged itself into my mind.

I choose today, with it's special date to acknowledge the presence of everyone in my life, to show my appreciation for the support you have provided and to thank you for playing your role so perfectly in this movie that is my life... whether you realise it or not.

. Pasta and other random musings .

I cooked up some pasta last night cos i had some capsicums, tomato sauce n angel hair. Ground cumin seeds and surprisingly, oyster sauce, makes pasta sauce much tastier... added kick. I had a bit of bacon and some sausages n I fried that with onions n garlic and then all the veggies n stuff and stewed it in the sauce with some extra herbs n crap but for some reason it still needed a lift so I added the cumin seeds and it was nicer but something else was missing... so just for fun.. I added oyster sauce.. and it's surprisingly much better. Haha

On another note... My first paper tmr and I'm soo NOT prepared!
Help!
And now that everyone's going off/home I'm missing home quite a bit. Bugger.
Oh and Laura won't be joining us on our road trip anymore cos she and her boyfriend's family are going off to Vancouver on a ski trip. Sigh. It would've been fun... I guess we're gonna have to carry on without her.

Anyone interested?

Mal and Lisa! Hopefully both of you can come along!

Brendan (from Mass Comm) and I were plannin on driving up to Sydney and then Brisbane and if we've still got energy, well, as far as possible round Aus. End of the year.

Then, maybe we can time it such that it'll be just in time for my family to come over and we can go to Tasmania! Ooh! Exciting! :D

God I miss you guys at home... Only thing I'm grateful for is that our weather's SO much better than yours. HAHA

. So yes anyway... .

That last entry was for this contest I saw on the ndp website.
And yes they have pandan coconut gelato/gelate/gelati (?)
And yes... it tastes JUST like pandan kueh
And YES... my mom HAD to pick this year to make her pandan kueh again.
And it's my bloody favourite kueh la -_-
Basket

I had durian and pandan coconut just now :D
It's not fair...everyone's going home.
I also want leh!
I miss my chwee kueh
I miss Simpang Bedok and Blk 85 and all those lovely lovely supper places. With CHEAP food. Yes... CHEAP food!
blar.

And on a side note... we went shopping yesterday cos I really need a pair of comfy boots cos it's getting colder. And we'd been searchin and searchin and it was almost closing time and I saw the loveliest loveliest pair of Dr Martens! With a cute lil rubbery heel. It's A$245 tho. But they're Dr Martens so pretty reasonable don't you think?

Anyway... they didn't have my size. 1 bloody size too small -_- like what the hell right? So they helped me check whether any other branches had and the only ones were at Bondi and dunno where...BOTH in NSW -_- and I'd have to pay a deposit for em to bring the boots over.

Is this like a sign for me to move over to NSW?

I didn't pay though...cos what if they don't fit?

But I really really really really really really want em *cries*

So hard to find nice comfy boots around here. Why ah? So many stupid pointy toes high heeled boots in suede -_-

I don't want suede! They'll get ruined in rainy Bendigo!

BLAR *edit* I found them at the end of the year in a lil shop in Marina Sq going for about SGD100+ ;) Thanks universe!

And yes... I screwed up the html in the previous post :p

My most nostalgic memory growing up

This post is partly for

and partly cos I'm missing home.

I guess I can’t quite pick my most nostalgic memory growing up in Singapore at the moment. It’s not really easy when I’ve just eaten pandan coconut gelato on Lygon Street in Melbourne. And it tastes just like my mom’s pandan kueh which she hasn’t made in the longest time, then she had to suddenly decide to make them this recent Chinese New Year straight after I had to leave for Australia to study. It’s been a few months but I already miss Singapore. I didn’t realise I’d miss home so much till I came here.

I’m gonna miss the first NDP on floats, the building of the biggest ferris wheel ever, AND the F1 race. What horrid timing I have. And after that pandan coconut gelato, to try and decide my MOST nostalgic memory is gonna be impossible. It’s just a big blur lovely collage.

My parents used to drop my elder brother and I off at my grandma’s place over the weekend so they could spend time with each other without us toddlers being a nuisance. Furthest back I could remember was when I was about 2 or 3 years old. My cousin who’s the same age as me used to stay with my grandma too so he was my playmate as well.

The little patch of garden with the overgrown weeds and the rusty metal gate that was never locked used to be our little patch of heaven. I remember there was this plastic container that used to catch the water from the leaky faucet in the corner. There was always just that bit of water in it and we used to pretend it was soup. We’d plonk scoops of wet soil into it and top it up with weeds, twigs, leaves and anything disgusting looking we could find in the garden to use as ingredients. I remember bringing the container into the living room, trying hard not to make a trail of mess, just to show our grandma our lovely concoction. And then we’d just get yelled at to get that mess outside.

We used to go to the backyard and hang out with our grandma’s help, Imelda. She used to always had a pack of some keropok whenever she was having a break there and she’d always offer us some. My favourite was super ring. I remember my parents never allowed us to snack so we’d always have to sneak around when Imelda offered hers to us. I remember trying to see how many rings I could fit on my little finger before popping em one by one into my mouth. I remember my orange stained fingers and how Imelda had to always clean off the orange from my mouth before we ran back into house.

I remember the playground and the neighbourhood before it got renovated and became all modernised. Years later, I remember waiting for the school bus under our HDB block. I remember counting out my coins from my pocket money to see how many “5 for 10c” sweets I could get from the Mama shop. And if I happened to have spare change, I’d get sweets AND seaweed. Oh gosh, those lovely packets of super salty seaweed… I remember how the friendly uncle would sometimes give me free sweets when he saw me counting my money and hesitating cos I didn’t have enough.

Ohh I remember 10 cents Hero cake all hard and crumbly and covered with chocolate, packets of animal biscuit, vanilla ice cream covered with lime popsicle... I had a really great childhood… a really great one with really great snacks which I really miss right now. But at least thinking about my childhood always makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I’ll be going to Chinatown soon to try and find me some nostalgic Asian snacks tomorrow. Wish me luck.

. Cuppycakes .

Plenty many cuppycakes
We made almost 100 of em
well....about 96 I think
And we ate a few...test drive ya noe :D
And then there were 88
But my fren wanted to try the new batch of icing that we made
so there were 87
But there was one crappy lookin one...so we ate that one too
then there were 86

Oh yeah...we made them for her super duper belated bday party last weekend
which we celebrated in Melbourne with her friend Wesley
Oh by the way... RIP Wayne Seah Show em what thunder's really like in that big rock concert in the sky.

I have a science essay to write. It's driving me nuts
Discuss in 1000 words, the dopamine hypothesis in schizophrenia. What do treatment studies tell us about the aetiology of the condition.
At least 15 references.

Then there's the sociology test
Essay and test on the 30th of May
Another 2000 word essay due on 4th of June
But Pingo's gonna b down fr the 1st to the 5th
So I'm gonna have to be in Melbourne
So I have to get EVERYTHING done by the 30th and the 1st
And do well
Why oh why do I suck so bad in time management? It's like my brain jus sits there in a vegetative state and refuses to work till I'm a short way away from the deadline, whether or not I actually wanna finish on the deadline or before the deadline. Doesn't matter.
That means, I've been trying to do my essays for a month and my brain is only jus starting to work now
That means I'm really highly stressed.
Oh the things I do for you Ping
hahahahahaha
*faint*

. Phillip Island and other silly random stuff .

Phillip Island Bit

Went to Phillip Island over the weekend =)
The digicam that I brought from home is screwed so I had to depend on my frens cams and my fone cam.

Haven't gotten my photos from them yet but I will soon.
The weather forecast was gloomy...something about raining the whole bloody weekend and being cold and all that crap, but =) it was just the opposite =) No rain at all till our very very last stop.

We stayed in a trailer park. Ok fine, a CARAVAN park. It's exactly like a trailer park anyway, cept it's for holidayers. I forgot to take pictures of the place but it wasn't too bad, just stank badly of an overdose of disinfectants.

The town that we were at had these beautiful 2 toned trees, with light green leaves on top and dark green at the bottom and it was all fanned out. I really wished I'd had a better camera then. But anyway...

We had time to jus bum ard town for about an hour or so then we went to this place called The Nobbies, some natural structure thingy that's supposed to be all unique and crap. It was pretty, I'll grant that...

Then we went to see the penguins!!! We got the Penguin Plus tickets which brought us really really close to the lil critters. SO CUTE LA!!! all tiny and shit! and the way they walk....omg hahahha....too bad we couldn't take pix =( cos we were sooo close!!
I'll try my best to describe....
It was all dark and cold with only the moon to illuminate the beach. We had stupid lights around us, but thankfully it was dim. We were watching the waves when suddenly a whole lot of white blobs start popping up on the beach like out of nowhere. Cos apparently the penguins float on their tummies together and get washed onto the beach so their black feathers on their backs camouflage em. Then they'd all scamper/waddle/bob/look really stupid back to their burrows in the hills.

There's a walkway that let's us see them waddle back to their burrows so we were all crowding along there. We were cooing and stuff at them until suddenly one of em, midwalk, let out this spluttery white crap and continued walking. So rude! But bloody funny. After that, all we could think abt was, when's the next one gonna crap. And finally, just before we decided to go back this lil guy let out a white spluttery projectile. The longest splatter of bird poop I've ever seen. Then this group of chinese people nex to me got all excited and were goin EH!! PANG SAI!! PANG SAI!!! hahaha I'm so glad the ang mohs don't understand them. So embarrassing.

Random Shit Bit

So recently, when I go clubbing, I've been forgetting to bring my rubber band to tie up my hair when it gets hot. The last time, I used a straw to do up my hair. The other day I used a glow stick :D

uh yah, we took that in the toilet :p

This is the fridge that 3 of my friends share.
The sign says
FRIDGES: Do NOT put ANY food items on top of fridge.
We covered the last few words cos we figured it very accurately describes our friends' fridge as you can tell from the stuff they have in the picture below

No food items. Yup.
Don't be deceived by that bag of grapes. I think he's trying to make wine from the looks of it.

Phillip Island pictures coming up soon. Gotta head to class now

Just for Davina

Rules of the game:
Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose six people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!

I can cross my little toe on my right foot over onto the 4th toe :D They call me monkey toes.

I miss my old bolster. And I'm not calling it my old smelly bolster cos it smells nice! Cos I smell nice!
I'm actually a hopeless romantic. I get all gooey and awwey easily. Hmm...I'm like an uncooked egg.
I only listen to the tune of a song but when I really like it, I have to google the lyrics cos I just can't do the whole make up your own lyrics thing.
I google everything

I hate bad English (haha bad English) and US English (isn't that just a bloody oxymoron?) and even more so, I hate that my English is going down the drain
I love Singlish

. Tim Tam Orgasm .

Also known as the Tim Tam Bomb and the Tim Tam Slam
Personally I think it's more of a bomb which explodes in your mouth rather than a slam
I mean, imagine slamming a bar of Tim Tam in your mouth. You'd get it everywhere.
On your teeth, your clothes...

Yes anyway

How to have a Tim Tam Orgasm

1. Make a nice hot drink
2. Grab a Tim Tam
3. Bite of a corner off 2 opposite ends of the Tim Tam
4. Dip Tim Tam into hot drink
5. Use said Tim Tam as a straw and suck up your drink till the drink reaches your mouth
6. Pop hot-drink-filled Tim Tam into your mouth
7. Enjoy Tim Tam collapsing into a gooey chocolatey mess in your mouth. Mmm. My friend calls this the closest thing to having a taste buds orgasm =)

. Elephant Dung .

Dearestest Mumsy & Daddo,

you guys say I go around creating messes everywhere leaving all my crap around like elephant shit oblivious to everything.
Congratulations! You guys did a much better job than some of the parents of some of the people I live with yay!!! *applauds* because I am possibly one of the cleanest and most considerate people around here. I mean my room's a bit of a mess, but that's my room....
AND!!!! I'm one of the youngest here toooo!!!

Love many many big big much much

Ahhhh I feel soo much better now that I've vented =)

I know what you're thinking Mumsy
At least I'm aware enough to turn it around yes?

yah I know... thankew Mammee

. Note to Self .

When cooking anything stewy/soupy don't be in a rush to add water/milk.
Bit by bit. Wait and see.

Tonight's dinner menu
Curry-like thingo
with
lamb & leek sausage
and
toasted bread

Made of
Masala powder mix
Minced pork
Capsicum
Tomatoes
Garlic
Onion
&
Too much milk
Add salt to taste

Took forever to cook cos I had to boil down the milk but bloody nice.
Next time, add potatoes and peas.

Now I have a big pot of it cos I couldn't be bothered to wait to boil down more milk. There's so much it's probably enough to feed our family of 5.
And I have no idea how I'm gonna put it all away.
*faints*

At least it was nice =)

And now to make a nice mug of masala chai tea :D

. Forever Young .

And in the last hour (Sg time)
And just to re-emphasise
Hope you've had an absolutely magical one
And for God's sake...
You're still young!!!

. Pancakes and Ribs .

Yeah I'm still thinking about it....
Clara brought me to Pancakes on the Rocks in Sydney. We shared a Mexicana for the main course. Not bad...not worth mentioning hahaha.... We had our own dessert... The Ultimate...ooooh... Yummy cheese in crepes on raspberry sauce with vanilla ice cream and a side of strawberries. Like raspberry cheesecake
And then a few days later we went to this place at Bondi that serves pretty good ribs. Mmm
This pic courtesy of darling Davina
I was starving tooo much to think of takin a pic until I'd tucked into it... Oh well. =)

. Shut up Monkey Mind!!.

How do u shut it up? I'm bloody trying to read my texts and my brain jus keeps goin off on a tangent.

Here's an example "...in a wide variety of fields - education, art,... hmm my hair's pretty soft today... I wonder what Mummy's doing... ooh basket, gaining weight...it is clear that power relations...omg I just read a whole paragraph without registering anything...just as one can speak of the accumulation... *song starts playing in head* ... it makes as much sense to speak of the accumulation and unequal distribution of cultural capital - education, status, legitimacy, knowledge .... mmm feel like going to the beach...augh what am I reading?!... In a wide variety of fields - education, art, sport, the media, politics, social movments, status differences, and even warfare - it is clear that power relations operate as much hey! I'm actually reading without being distracted...oh wait... didn't I just read this para already? -_-"

As you can tell, it's not fun.
Shut up Monkey Mind

. Stinky! .

I want the damn antibacterial antiperspirant foot and shoe spray that Dav and Clara have from friggin Coles!!!

I was looking for it everydamnwhere..Big W, Coles, Safeway.... All don't have!! Why?! Melbourne people got special feet isit? Wear shoes don't stink ah!??! Basket -_-

Sekali Bendigo have but Melb don't have... hahahah what a thought....but could be true!

. Strange new moon .

My horoscope yesterday would probably have been something like: You will discover new and interesting things about the ones closest around you.

2 different settings
3 very interesting bits of news.
How amusing

. Easter Break Holiday .

Yay!

I had lotsa fun =)
I wanna go back to Sydney

We're thinking of doing a road trip up during one of the hols

More peekchurs!

Me, Dav (1 of my lovely hostesses) and Ollie at Starbucks.
Yeah can't quite see it. That's why I'm telling you where we were =)

Darling Harbour I think
Dav, Ollie, Laura, Clara (other lovely hostess), me

Laura n Dav bickering over photos
Clara not giving a damn haha

Stayin at Dav's & Clara's and Laura's really makes me want a place that I can call home for the next 3 years. I was amazed that I accepted the fact that I've really left home and am living overseas, that it didn't feel like a big deal at all. I know why now. This place that I'm living in just feels so temporary. It's just a room. And there's the outside common area. But it's just virtually still a room. It's kinda like a camp cos of the little things like an almost publicky concept of a bathroom and toilets. I mean really, you have shower stalls separate from the toilet area. The place where you go and pee is jus like a school toilet. Stalls and sinks and mirrors. No privacy whatsoever.

And that's why all this feels so damn temporary. No "I'm gonna be living overseas for 3 years" feel at all. I am SO tempted to relocate. Parents: the thought of Sydney is now crossing my mind.

You know I wouldn't even mind so much the housework and all that crap if I could have friends as housemates.

And you know I'll probably get more exercise living near a city cos I'll be walking everywhere. :D

ARgh

Monday, April 02, 2007

Oh by the way...

The 300 free minutes are to prepaid people. So let me know if you're prepaid or not so that I can decide whether to add you to my 100 free minutes or not :D

I'm now on Optus baby!

300 free minutes! Who else is on Optus? Let me know in my comments box thanks!

♥
Nicole
♫

On another note, Aussie service provider personnels are sucky! Augh the whole mobile service is crappy. Friggin exorbitant. It's like... hmmm, should I go with the friggin expensive? Or the even more friggin expensive? Oh wait, maybe I'll just go with the friggin expensive plan! *beams*

And the people on the phone... OMG, outsourced to India. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with Indians but they don't even understand my question! Geez!!!

Mmm, backing up a bit, when you get an Optus prepaid, there's this plan that you can get 300 free minutes to ANY Optus number AND you get this thing called Mytime, which is where you nominate like 5 numbers and you get 100 free minutes to call these guys with. Cept you only can do it at about 5 minute stretches I think.

So I asked the lady what would happen when I use up the whole 100 minutes? Would it carry over to the 300 free minutes I have? And she totally couldn't understand me! And I rephrased it so many times and all she kept telling me was that I could check my balance of free minutes by calling a certain number and that if I exceed my minutes I will get charged.

Yes we all know that I will get charged when my free minutes are exceeded and to call whatever bloody number. But will the damn 5 free numbers people get carried over to the 300 minutes?! Cos there are 2 sets of free minutes! Bleh

Am I the stupid one here? Am I spending too many braincells on neuroscience that I'm somehow the one not having enough to understand other things?

And if you wanna transfer a number from 1 service provider to another and the account doesn't belong to you, they're gonna wanna record the voice of the person it belongs to. No, they won't wanna speak to you. So now they think my brother has an Aussie accent. HAHAHA

And on yet another ♪,

I'm going to Sydney!!!

Thanks Mumsy and DaddyO!! :D

SWIMMING WITH THE DOLPHINS & SEALS (quick post)

We went swimming with the dolphins and seals on 17th March.
The bus was gonna leave at 630am to bring us on a 4 hr drive to Port Philip Bay so we had to wake up friggin early
And it was SO COLD!!
The day looked soo pretty but it was soo cold! Thank god for the wet-suits man. The water was very nice and warm so when you got into it, it warmed you up but the moment you got out... good luck man haha. My fingers and toenails were grey.

We saw lotsa dolphins. There was a whole pod of em, with babies and all =) They swam all ard and under us and were so playful. I couldn't much be bothered with the seals though. They're more curious and interactive but good lord, they stink worse than friggin belachan and salted fish mixed together haha. I found em stinky, imagine how the ang mohs felt haha.

ohhhh and there was this hammock sticking out the side of the boat that you cn sit in. I almost got washed off by the waves haha...friggin fun!

At the end of the trip, I was surprised when my frens wanted to change into nice fresh clothes at the public toilets. I mean, it's not like you're gonna have a shower so you cn change into ur clothes man, and our bikinis were dry by that time haha. And they were shocked when I jus put my clothes over my bikini, smoothened my hair a bit and left the toilets jus like that.

ohh! and I appeared in the papers haha. It was some story on uni activities. I've the article somewhere in my room. =)

Lyrics to Teardrop is where my blog add came from btw

And this song.... this song I can't get outta my head

Stolen

We watched the season pull up its own stakes,
and catch the last weekend of the last week.
Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced,
another sun-soaked season fades away.

You have stolen my heart. You have stolen my heart.

Invitation only, grand farewells
Crash the best one of the best ones.
Clear liquor and cloudy eye, too early to say goodnight.

You have stolen my heart. You have stolen my heart.

And from the ballroom floor we are in celebration

One good stretch before our hibernation.
Our dreams assured, and we all will sleep well.

Sleep well, sleep well, sleep well, sleep well.

You have stolen my, you have stolen, you have stolen my heart.

Watch you spin around in your highest heels
You are the best one of the best ones.
We

All
Look
Like

We
Feel.

You have stolen my, you have stolen my,
You have stolen my heart.

Namaste
:D

CAUTION: Long Post Ahead

I just made a friendster blog cos I don't know how to play around and make this blog all prettyful and stuff. And I don't have to announce I have a blog. If they spot it on friendster they'll be directed here. yay!

OH and if you wanna go there its http://lianfang.blogs.friendster.com Lianfang blogs man! haha

So after a year off from school and society's version of reality, having a blast living in what should be everyone's version of reality, I finally decided I should go back to school. Honestly didn't know what to study but decided to go ahead with Psychology since I've always been interested in it and since it's so different from Mass Comm.

Sought advice from IDP. Told them I know nothing about choosing Unis, wanted to study Psychology and was told that I shouldn't stop just at a bachelors but go on to honours n stuff. Was told that La Trobe, among other Unis had a good psych course but was told that I should study Psych as an Arts subject so that it'd be easier to go onto honours since I already have a dip in MCM.

When I saw that only the Bendigo campus had film, lit & art, I was like... ok fine...at least I'll enjoy myself. So here I was thinking YAY! I'm gonna be studying film, lit, art and Psych! How fantastic is that combi?

Then I got here

Film, lit&art is ONE subject. I have to take OTHER subjects. Psych as an elective under Arts is NOT acredited.

And I found that out only on Electives enrolment day. WHEEEEE

After settling in this friggin dust town... I find out that my whole reason for settling here has gone up in smoke.

And I'd just gotten used to the place... made some friends... etc

I wouldve just gone straight to Monash or Bond (oh... the sunshine and the coast...*daydreams*)if I had known better.

ARGH

I've been thinking about relocating though...but urgh... getting used to another place... and breaking into already-formed cliques

And WHICH PLACE?!

my god

I'm in Behavioural Science now though

I'm a Science student

hahahah oh the irony

Oh and today, I just appreciated having learnt chem in sec sch. Cos I understood what was goin on in lecture today. *beams*

Any ideas/suggestions/advice people?

Love
Nicki
